Dalhousie
Overview

The
exotic hill town of Dalhousie is hidden away in the Dhauladhar Range of the
state of Himachal Pradesh. It was British Viceroy Lord Dalhousie who
established it in 1854, hence the name. Later, it served as one of the
finest summer retreats for British troops and bureaucrats. Located at a
distance of 563 km from Delhi, the cool retreat welcomes hordes of tourists
and nature-lovers from far and wide. Forest of pine, deodar and cedar,
ancient places of worship, snow-clad peaks and multiple options of adventure
make Dalhousie an irresistible destination for all.
Climate & Best Time
You will experience temperate climatic conditions in Dalhousie. Day
temperatures during summers show a maximum of 26 degrees centigrade. The
maximum and minimum temperatures during winters range from 10 degrees to 1
degree centigrade respectively. July and August are monsoon months. The
months of December and February witness good amount of snowfall. You can
make a trip to Dalhousie anytime of the year.

Named after the great Indian patriot Subhash Chandra Bose, the scenic spot
lies just a little distance away from the GPO Square. The sparkling water
spring and the splendid views are of great interest.

It makes the worth of a halt while on your way to Kalatope. Here, you can
visit the temple of Bhuvani Mata. Besides, the annual fair, held in July, is
a big lure for tourists here.

A famous wildlife sanctuary, the place gives you an opportunity to soak up
the natural charm and watch animal species like ghoral, barking deer and the
Himalayan black bear.

bus services to places like Amritsar (188 km), Jalandhar (192 km), Pathankot
(80 km), Chamba (56 km), Manali (402 km), Delhi (563 km), Chandigarh (352
