Introduction

Enjoying
the vicinity of the azure Arabian Sea on its west, the southern Indian state
of Karnataka has witnessed the administration of such mighty empires as the
Hoysalas, Chalukyas and Vijanagar. Abounding in ancient heritage and a

Climate
Karnataka enjoys a healthful climate for most part of the year. The weather
continues to be hot and dry from February till May. Average temperature
during summer shows 34 degrees centigrade with 75% humidity in the air.
During winters, from November to February, the minimum temperature records
20 degrees centigrade. You can plan your trip here anytime of the year. The
monsoon months should be avioded though.

The state of Karnataka can be segregated into four major divisions
the Bangalore Division, the Belgaum Division, the Gulbarga Division and the
Mysore Division. Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka, is known the world
over for its booming IT industry. Mysore is another important city of the
state. Other important cities and towns of the state include Aihole, Badami,
Belur, Bijapur, Gulbarga, Hampi, Hassan, Halebid, Pattadakal, Karwar,
Tumkur, Mandya etc.
People & Culture
The state boasts an ancient cultural heritage and its people seem no less
colourful. The classical dance forms of Karnataka are known all across the
world. Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi and Kathak are a part of people's life here
and are practised on a massive scale. Even the folk art forms are alive, the
famous ones being Krishna Parijatha, Bhootha Aradhane, Nagamandala etc.
Karnataka also charms with its varied culinary delights. Though region has
its own identity in terms of cuisines, the Mysore cuisine id popular among
tourists for its textural forms and flavour. Kannada has gained the status
of state's official language.

variety of experiences await the tourists in Karnataka. The capital city of
Bangalore has such popular attractions as Vidhan Soudha, Tipu's Palace,
Cubbon Park, Bull Temple, Botanical Gardens etc. Mysore, also known as the
'City of Palaces', offers to visit the Mahraja's Palace, Mysore Zoo,
Chamundeswari Temple, Jaganmohan Palace and Art, Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple
and the Brindavan Gardens. History buffs can spend time exploring the
ancient Hoysala temple architecture at Sravanbelagola, Belur and Halebid.
The tell-tale ruins of Vijayanagar Empire at Hampi are no less captivating.

Air/ Rail/ Road Links
HAL Bangalore International Airport is a major airport in the state. The
airport, maintained by the Hindustan Aeronautics, has regular flights to the
key destinations of the country and the world. You can avail of regular
flights here connecting to major Indian cities including Delhi, Kolkata,
Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram etc. The state also has
an excellent network of roads. Bangalore is a major railway station, linked
with different parts of the country.
