Overview

The
temple city of Khajuraho happens to be one of the much travelled
destinations in Central India. Located in the Bundelkhand region of Madhya

Khajurak has a typical tropical climate with the summer temperature touching a high of 47 degrees centigrade. » Western Group of Temples

This
group of temples bear the most stunning of sculptures as compared to the
other groups. These temples are located to the left of the entrance. Most
popular in this group are Kandariya Mahadeo Temple, Chausath Yogini Temple
and Matangeshwar Temple.
» Eastern Group of Temples
The eastern group of temples are positioned on the banks of river Khajur.
Must-visits among these include the Javari Temple, the Vamana Temple, the
Brahma Temple and the Hanuman Temple.
» Southern Group of Temples
This group has temples belonging to the Jain faith. The temples are located
southeast of the village. The Parsavanath Temple is a must watch for
travellers and holidaymakers.
» Panna National Park
Sprawling along the eastern bank of the Ken River, the Panna National Park
is a big draw for visitors to Khajuraho. It covers an area of around 543 sq
km and is just 25 km from the city of Khajuraho.

Khajuraho, being an important tourist destination, has a number of
accommodation options to offer. There are hotels ranging from deluxe and
luxury to budget categories. Hotel Chandela is a five star deluxe maintained
by the Taj Group. Other options include the Jass Trident, Khajuraho Ashok

Getting There
Khajuraho has a civil airport which flies planes to places like Delhi, Agra
and Varanasi. Harpalpur at 94 km and Mahoba at 61 km are the closest
railheads to the city. However, at a distance of 172 km is Jhansi which is a
convenient option for those coming in from Delhi and Chennai. You can also
avail of regular bus services from Satna, Harpalpur, Jhansi and Mahoba to
get to Khajuraho.
